Missing Class
Missing class should be minimized; often an important concept is discussed that is necessary for upcoming material. Without the concept the student will be more confused. Of course, there are legitimate occasions where missing class cannot be avoided.
Communication is the key; Students or parents should contact Mr. Miller as soon as possible
Students should not assume that since they were not in class they are not responsible for the information.
If a student is going to miss class they are required to access the Geometry assignment area of GradeSpeed and/or my webpage to see what was missed. Students can review any posted PowerPoint¯¿½¯¯¿½¿¯¿½½s or videos (on GradeSpeed or website), read their textbook, e-mail me, talk to fellow classmates that were in class, or visit with Mr. Miller before or after school.
If students return to class without at least making an attempt to learn the missed information they will be lost and confused. Students should attempt the homework; they will not get a bad grade for not completing the assignment. They will have time to complete assignments in accordance with DoDEA regulations.
Students will not get caught up by just attending class; there is no time.
Absent students should plan on investing additional time to get caught up with the class
Without this effort they will struggle and their grades will be greatly affected.
Parent Information
Students need to take responsibility for their learning. They should make
the most of every opportunity to enhance their academic ability.
Your child should always want others to see him/her at his/her best.
Ask your child how he/she is doing, often. Ask him/her to show and explain
his/her work. If you can understand what your child is explaining to you,
then your child understands as well.
If you have any questions or concerns about your childs math work or effort
in class, please contact me by email or calling the school. I expect your
child to be present at all parent/teacher meetings.
