Fundraisers are important to schools. The proceeds we earn from all fundraisers go back to the school in many ways. These funds support each classroom as well as the gym, library, music and art programs. Below is a list of the fundraisers we run during the school year. School Photos
Wesmoor Studios returns this year to take pictures of the SDES students,
classes and teachers. They will also take photos of your younger pre-school
children. There are several package options to choose from and photos are
received in plenty of time for holiday cards!
This event hardly feels like a fundraiser, but a proceed of all photo sales
goes to the PTO.
Dimes for Decatur
This is a month long fundraiser, usually run in November. Simply put,
students collect dimes in their classrooms. Typically the classroom with the
highest amount donated wins an achievement party.
Box Tops for Education and Tyson A+
This yearlong fundraiser asks students and parents to collect Box Tops
labels located on General Mills products and Tyson A+ labels from Tyson
chicken packages. 10 cents is earned for each Box Top collected and 24 cents
from each Tyson label. Typically SDES makes about $1,400 per year on this
fundraiser. Several incentive contests are run each year, with prize parties
for the highest collecting classrooms.
The Carnival
This is our end-of-the-year spring bonanza! Teachers and parents come
together for a country carnival, with teacher-run booths featuring contests
for the students. PTO receives proceeds from ticket and food sales.
Original Artworks
New to our school in 2006, this program allows children to create a unique
display from their own artwork! Popular items on which to display the
artwork include magnets, flags and t-shirts, with many other options
available. This easy fundraiser will be held in October, perfect timing for
receiving the finished products as gifts for the winter holidays!
