Book Project

FOURTH GRADE BOOK PROJECT #3
Due December 15, 2009
No late projects accepted.

Your book must be a biography and you must list it on our roster by Monday,
November 9. It must be pre-approved for length and reading level. Our goal
this year continues to be reading a variety of books, absorbing them well, and
presenting our experience in a variety of ways. Reading a biography gives us a
chance to consider the ups and downs of someone else's life and think about
how history and opportunities shape us. Is your subject someone you admire
now? Are you and your subject alike in any way?

Written requirements for all:

___1. Write a title page (typed or handwritten in ink) with ONLY the
following: name of the book, the author, copyright date, and the genre
(biography), with your name and the date at the bottom of the page. Be sure
the book title and author are the largest and the copyright date you use is
the earliest one written.

___2. Narrative Paragraph #1: Write one thoughtful paragraph (Around 4-5
sentences) that describes challenges your person faced and successes they
experienced.

___3. Narrative Paragraph #2: Write a paragraph that describes what would
happen if the person came to Haines and you showed him/her around. Tell where
the person would go and how you think they would react.

___4. Time Line: Mark and label a time line that shows at least eight
important dates in the person's life. Be sure to write neatly and clearly. The
spacing doesn't have to be mathematically exact but should be reasonable. You
can fold the time line into sections if it helps to do that, dividing their
life span into quarters or eighths.

____5. Make a poster, at least 11" X 17" that has a picture of the person
taking up about one-fourth of the space. It can be photocopied (bring it early
and I can do that for you), printed from the Internet, torn from a magazine,
or hand drawn. Draw 6-8 "bubbles", each with a physical or character trait the
person exhibits.
