Parents' Guide to 4th Grade Weekly Spelling
Every Friday your child will bring home his A Beka Spelling words(there is no textbook)in his C.R.E.W. BOOK that he or she should study during the week. The final test will be given to students on the following Thursday. All words on weekly lists will follow a common spelling pattern or rule. Sent home with the weekly spelling words are two things:
1. Practice Spelling Test
A blank practice test will always be sent home with you child's weekly spelling words. A parent or guardian should use the worksheet to administer the practice test to students at home as a way to prepare them for the final test in class on Thursday. Any words that your child spells wrong on the practice test should be rewritten three times on the back of the practice test. The practice spelling test should then be signed by the person who administered the test and returned to school on Thursday morning (the day of the final test in class). The at-home practice test can be given at any time during the week. This practice test is worth 10 homework points each week.
2. Teacher-Selected Spelling Activity
Each week your child will have at least one other activity to do to practice their spelling words at home each week. I will send one other activity along with their practice spelling test to do as a mandatory assignment each week. The activity will be explained on a separate sheet and sent home in their C.R.E.W. Book along with their practice test form. It should be returned to school on Thursday morning (the day of the final spelling test) along with the completed practice test. This activity sheet is worth 10 homework points each week.
3. Spelling Lists
Spelling lists will be added to the website each week for parental access.
