| Announcements for the SUMMER!!!!!!!!!
Reading- This summer your child needs to read each day in order to maintain
the reading skills gained from this year. Please take your child to the
Wheeler Basin Library to check out books. The library will also be having
a summer reading program called, "Catch the Reading Bug!" It looks like a
lot of fun!
Also, each child has a bag of decodable books which will help them practice
various phonics patterns as they read. Please keep a journal/list of these
books that they read this summer. IF they read all of them(about 38), they
will be invited to my house the first part of Aug. for a swim party. You
will need to call me at 351-7333 by Aug. 1 and let me know if they did read
ALL of them, so I can inform you of the date and time of the reading
celebration party.
Math-Please help your child maintain the math facts' skills by reviewing
periodically the addition and subtraction facts. Also, in third grade,
your child will be memorizing the multiplication facts,so if you want to
give your child a head start, buy some cards and have them to start
memorizing the facts 1-9's. You might even want to mix up the addition,
subtraction and multiplication cards into one stack by the end of the summer
just for an extra challenge.
Language-Your child has learned ALL of the cursive alphabet. In third
grade, he or she will be instructed on all of the letters throughout the
year in order to master the art of cursive. They all did a fabulous job on
their cursive in my class. I even told them that they wrote better than
most all the 4th graders that I have taught!!!
Last of all, enjoy your child. I have enjoyed teaching your child this
