Unit 3.2 Spelling 1. bring 2. sang 3. trunk 4. pink 5. rang 6. up 7. get 8. help 9. use 10. eat Bonus: celebrate Each Monday your child will receive a spelling list. The spelling list may also be found in our class newsletter located in your child’s yellow CCPS folder. Our class will always have 5 phonetic words reviewing the sounds we have learned, and 5 word wall words. Please note that some of the word wall words cannot be sounded out (for example the word “are”). Below you will find 8 steps to practicing each spelling word: 8 Steps to practicing each spelling word 1) Say the word “thin” 2) Stretch it out “ th i n” 3) Make a blank for each sound ___ __ __ 4) Write each sound in each blank th i n 5) Close your eyes and look at it in the back of your eyes ( in other words picture looking at it with your eyes closed) 6) Write each sound in the air 7) Open your eyes and write it with your 1st grade quality handwriting 8) Tell what the word means. (Lean or slender in form. The opposite of fat) We will complete daily spelling activities in class with these words as well. On Fridays we will have a spelling test for a grade. Below you will find the spelling homework for each night. This will also be listed on the cover of your child’s spelling notebook. Sample spelling homework is stapled inside your child’s folder to give you an idea of what completed homework will look like. Spelling homework is due on Fridays each week. Homework Monday: Write the words 5 times each. Tuesday: Choose 5 spelling words and write a sentence with each word. Wednesday: Put 5 words in ABC order (alphabetical). Thursday: Study for test. *All homework is due on Friday. Each child will earn a grade based on the number of homework assignments turned in.
