May I eat lunch with my child? What time?

We encourage parents to come by and eat with your child from time to time.We
do ask for a three week grace period until your child has gained
independence. Please call the lunchroom or send a note on the morning of your
visit. Visitors are asked to first go by the office and sign in and get a
visitor pass. Please meet our class in the hallway outside of the lunchroom,
instead of coming to the classroom. Lunches may be paid as you go through the
line.
Our lunch time is 11:25.

What is the best way to send money, correspondence, etc..to the school.?

We have found the yellow folders work best for safely getting important
correspondence, money, etc.. to and from school. Mrs. Farr sends home the
yellow folders every Monday with an overview of activities for the week.
These folders are to be reviewed and emptied by parents each Monday night
and returned EACH TUESDAY morning. Mrs. Farr checks these at that time for
any important notes, lunch or field trip money, etc.. Please ask your child
to leave anything inside the yellow folders for Mrs. Farr to empty. The
children put these folders in a special yellow basket as they come in to the
classrooms each Tuesday.

Are birthdays celebrated at school?

Although we are not allowed to have "a party" for birthdays through the
school year, every effort is made to make sure your child's special day is
recognized! Parents may send a special snack (i.e. cookies, cupcakes, a small
cake, or other favorite treat of the birthday child) for him/her to share
with classmates on or around the birthday. However, we must limit our little
celebration to the regularly scheduled snack time (15 minutes).

May I send party invitations for my child's (off campus) party?

Parents may send invitations to invite children to a birthday party or other
events outside of school, only if you are inviting EVERY CHILD in our class.
We do not want any child to feel left out or have his/her feelings hurt.

I have limited time but want to help. Are there things I can take home?

Yes! We always have projects to prepare, things that need to be cut, stapled,
labeled, and the list goes on! If you work or have a small one at home and so
the school day isn't a possibility, please let the teacher know that and what
are the best times. We can have a mini-project ready to go if you call or
send a note. We appreciate the help our sweet parents offer!

How is the best way to help my child at home?

*Read, read read! Allow your child to read to you and continue to read with
him/her. Ask questions during and after the text for comprehension. Have your
child identify the characters, the setting...predict what will happen on the
next page.
*Stay informed about what is going on in your child's classroom: Read our
weekly newsletter and try to make sure your child has any items that may be
needed as expressed in your child's BEAR NECESSITIES weekly notes.
*Weekly homework pages will be sent home after Christmas with
activities that correlate to what concepts we are working with at school
presently.
*Each child has a sight word book that will be updated with new
words from time to to time. Go over these words each night possible with your
child. These are words used frequently in texts.
*Check you child's work folder each time it is sent home. Discuss with your
child his/her work. Praise improvements Discuss "what we need to improve upon"
and teacher's comments on work.
*Most of all, make sure your child understands, through your words and
actions daily, that you VALUE what he/she is doing and learning everyday at
CCPS and that his/her accomplishments are important to you and make you proud!
