Homework for the week of October 5-9:
Dear Family,
We will begin sending a small weekly homework packet each Monday,
beginning this week. Hopefully, you will find these to be short and fun
exercises that will help your child to grow as a learner. Some of the
activities will be oral in nature and will require no paperwork to be turned
back in to the school. If you are asked to turn the paperwork back on a
specific day, it will be noted on the sheet. Note: The 3-ring binder, which
was on the supply list, is to serve as our homework binder. If you have not
sent one for your child this year, please do so by Friday. It should have a
clear pocket on the front cover and pockets inside the binder as well.

Weekly Reminders:
Monday Night: Review your child’s yellow folder.
Tuesday Morning: Return the yellow folder to school.
Return library books.
Nightly homework: (Continue throughout the year as new words will be added as
they are introduced.)
Your child is learning sight words. Please help your child to read the
words in the “beary special word book” in his/her backpack. Please review the
words twice every night through the week and have your child place it back in
the baggie and in his/her backpack each night. We will also need these books
for activities at school and for updating, so it is very important that it
stays in the backpack at all times when you are not working with the words at
home.
Nightly Oct. 5-9th: Have your child to read the following letters in random
order to you. Circle the ones he/she can identify correctly and without
hesitation. Challenge your child to “master” or circle more letters each
night. Practice naming those difficult for your child by posting them around
your house (one of two at a time only is recommended) and asking your child to
identify often. Please sign the bottom of the sheet and turn in on Friday for
a small prize.
