Homework

Word Wall Sheet - read through once nightly (I will check students’ word wall 
reading every 5th week.)
Book Bag - read material in the bag and sign the book log. The book should be 
returned daily. Theblue reader should be read on Monday and Tuesday nights.
Math - complete side B of the math sheet done in class.
Phonics- Work with your child on the phonics skills listed in the weekly 
newsletter. We will have tests on those skills each Friday.


Spelling Homework Monday-Thursday (to begin the 2nd semester of school)
Monday:  Write the words 4 times each. 
Tuesday: Choose 5 spelling words and write a sentence with each word.
Wednesday: Put the given list of 5 words in ABC order
Thursday: Study and review.
Friday: Test

Reading Homework Reminder

Please remember to record your child’s reading on his/her reading log EVERY 
night. I check homework daily. Students go to the prize box after 10 
consecutive 100’s on reading homework. I know this is a lot of work, but we 
only have a few short months to get these students ready for 2nd grade! Can 
you believe how fast this year has gone by? Thank you for all you do! These 
students have come so far with their reading. I know their 2nd grade teachers 
will be very impressed with them. Please contact me with any questions or 
concerns. Thanks again!

Reading Homework-What to Expect Each Week:

Monday- blue reader story test prep. work sheets, sent home in orange folders 
weekly (due on Wedenesdays), blue reader story, blue reader sight words, 
fluency passage, & (possibly) a book or passage from small 
group/individualized instruction time

Tuesday- blue reader story test prep. work sheets, sent home in orange 
folders weekly (due on Wedenesdays), blue reader story, blue reader sight 
words, study for blue reader story test, fluency passage, & (possibly) a book 
or passage from small group/individualized instruction time

Wednesday- fluency passage & book(s) or passage(s) from small 
group/individualized instruction time

Thursday- fluency passage & book(s) or passage(s) from small 
group/individualized instruction time

Friday- fluency passage & book(s) or passage(s) from small 
group/individualized instruction time
