What exactly is DIBELS?
DIBELS stands for Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy
Skills.
Basically, it is an assessment to help me offer your child
individualized
instruction to help insure your child has a strong foundation
required for
reading.
When are book orders due and how do we make payments?
We will have a book order each month. The due date for the
order form will
be written on the book order. Please send money by a check
which is made
out to the book club. Or, take advantage of the new ORDERING ON-
LINE! Parental info will be sent along with the password you
will need to access our class order!
Is it fine if we come to eat lunch with our child?
We would love to have you eat with us! Please send a note with
your child
to let me know you are coming and I will order a lunch for you.
Lunch is at
11:57. Please allow us time to get in the routine of
Kindergarten and hold all lunch visits until after Labor Day.
What are the cost of lunches?
Student lunches are $1.50 a day. Adult/visitor lunches are
$3.00.
When do I drop off and pick up my child?
Students may begin being dropped off in the front breezeway at
7:30. They
will be watched by school staff until they are brought to the
classroom at
7:45.
We will leave our classroom at 2:35 to begin afternoon pick up
at the back
of the building. We suggest that Kindergarten parents come early
(2:30)to
get a place in line so that you don't get caught in the first
grade
traffic. Please make sure that anyone who picks up your child,
has the
TIGER name tag displayed clearly in the front window.
When is the best time to conference with you?
I will be glad to conference with you any day during our PE
time, before or
after school. If you need to speak with me, please send a note
and we can schedule a day and time to discuss your concerns.
Do you need volunteers?
YES! I love to have parents and grandparents in the classroom.
It is
wonderful for your boys and girls to see you show an active
interest in
their school. If you have a specific day of the week you can
come to our
classroom, please let me know and I will have things scheduled
for you.
What can volunteers do for the TIGERS?
There are many activities volunteers can do in the classroom or
at your
home. We need BOOK BUDDIES to read to or listen to the students
read,
CLASSROOM COOKS to assist the TIGERs with fun food experiences,
FIELDTRIP
chaperones, CUTTERS to assemble books and activities, and many,
many more
things. Please let me know if you have a special talent or
career you would
like to share.
