This week we will be learning about pilgrims and Indians. We will be learning
about sight word phrases, and working a lot with PHONEME SEGMENTATION (every
sound we hear in a word). We will then take that into our writing as we
continue to label our ABC journals and begin to write more in sentence
format. We are working A LOT with word families and manipulating out
beginning and ending sounds and how that changes our words. We are talking a
lot about being a fluent reader and not a robot reader.
In math this week we are doing a lot of different concepts with glyphs,
pattern, and shapes.
Our new sight words this week are OF and FOR. I am really started to see a
difference in those that are practicing at home and those that are not. We
are doing a lot of activities putting the sight words into text, and smart
board activities. The kids are also enjoying playing sight word BINGO every
Monday.
Don’t forget the HOLIDAY LUNCHEON on THURSDAY—-IF you made reservations,
please join us outside our classroom. Sorry, no drop ins please. The
lunchroom will only be able to accomadate those that turned in reservations.

If anyone can come Wed/Thurs afternoon to help paint shirts, please let me
know.
Looking ahead........Christmas Caroling on 12/17 to some nursing homes . We
will be making class t-shirts. Each child will need a solid red t-shirt,
turtle neck or sweatshirt for this. I will need these after Thanksgiving
break if you want to start shopping for one now. Also, if you would be
available at any time to come help paint shirts and decorate them, I know I
could use some help!
Have a GRRRRREAT week and thanks for ALL you do for the TIGER class!
