I was born in Decatur, Alabama. I have lived in Cullman majority of my
life. Up until the time I was five, my father was in the military so we
moved often. After that, I have been here in Cullman county. I attended
Fairview School for 1st-12th grade. In 1998, I opened TODDLER TIME
DAYCARE. I was the owner and operator of my licensed home daycare for eight
years. I have a love of working with young children, which is why I decided
to go back to college later in life and pursue a degree in Early Childhood
Education. I graduated from Athens State University in December, 2006. I
taught at Cullman City Primary the second half of the school year, filling
in for two maternity leaves. I have been at CCPS since. I am beginning my
4th year at CCPS, but as you can tell I have an extensive background working
with young children.
I have been blessed with two precious children, Elijah (13) and Lizzie
Mae (12). My children attend school at Fairview. We are a very active,
sports minded family. One of our favorite pass times is supporting our
college team---WARRRRR EAGLE! My children play sports year around and enjoy
playing the guitar and piano and working with some service organization they
are part of either at church or school. We are active in our church and in
different ministries with our youth and young children.
My mission is to create a strong foundation for my students and that they will
enjoy learning and coming to school. I want to create independent learners
of concepts and objectives prescribed by the Alabama State Department of
Education. We are "go-getters" for learning. Our focus is on reading, math,
and writing. I will use those three areas as we study science, social
studies, and themes of interest. Our class is a student-centered, teacher-
guided class. In the TIGER class, students will learn in an environment that
is safe, productive, challenging, and fun. As the teacher, I will guide the
students along a path of discovery, learning, and challenges. It is my
mission as a kindergarten teacher to meet each student at his/her level and
to help them grow. Our classroom will be an environment of fun, age and
developmentally appropriate learning.
I have high expectations for my students. Our goals are high and it is our
mission to reach them---Reaching for the Stars!!
