CULLMAN HIGH SCHOOL –ENGLISH 12 PI
2007-08 SYLLABUS - MRS. PUTMAN
GOALS & OBJECTIVES: To improve student’s ability to think clearly, read effectively, write coherently, analyze logically, research successfully, and reflect regularly. Course uses objectives for language and reading in the Alabama Course of Study: English Language Arts for 12th grade English and AL. High School Graduation Exam.
TEXTBOOKS: Grammar and Language Workbook; Elements of Literature: Literature of Britain – Sixth Course; and Vocabulary Workshop – Level G.
NOVELS & SUPPLIES: Must acquire copy of novel Night by Elie Wiesel for Trimester A. Supplies: a USB drive (no floppies), pencils, black ink pens, wide ruled paper in 3-ring binder, and colored pencils.
GRADING: Homework / Daily Work grade 20%; Grammar tests, all Essays, and Literature tests 60%; and Vocabulary Tests 20% = Final grade. Remember, all essays count double as major test grades (100 pts. each).
CLASSROOM POLICIES & RULES: Any student needing accommodations or that has failing grades is urged to talk with me ASAP. Students are expected to follow CHS dress code, and academic conduct & attendance policy. Students have up to 3 days to make up tests and homework missed when absent (unless serious illness). Students are expected to listen & work during lesson, be prepared, respect others, and help keep classroom and school clean.

B. Anglo-Saxon time period (2-13) -will watch The Epic Hero short video as intro
