The course will include instruction and practice in library usage. I. Grammar & usage A. Bell ringers B. Marking punctuation C. Checking mechanics D. Using the right word E. Construction sentences F. Avoiding sentence errors II. Writing—typed A. Narrative essay B. Process essay C. Comparison/Contrast essay D. Argumentative (Persuasion) essay E. Causal (Cause & Effect) essay F. Literary analysis essay III. Literature A. Crazy in B. Night C. Boy’s Life D. Beowulf (if time permits) IV. Vocabulary: Units 1-7 V. Videos: appropriate to class assignments VI. Final: All students will take the semester exam Grading: essays, major tests (novels) 80% 1. Make-up work: before school in Ms. Allred’s room other (Ch. 39-40, Ch. 35-37, Ch. 2-7, 20% 2. No extra credit pop tests, class work, etc.)
