BIOLOGY PART I SYLLABUS

II.	Class Expectations
a.	Follow the golden rule, treat others the way you would like to be 
treated. Disrespect will not be tolerated.
b.	Talk only during appropriate times.
c.	Follow school rules as outlined in the CHS handbook.
d.	You are responsible for your own learning, you must read the 
chapters, complete all homework, learn the vocabulary, participate in class 
and lab.
e.	My web page is designed to help you, use it! Your materials list is 
on my web page.
f.	Visit your textbook online, a link is provided from my web page. You 
may quiz yourself and find other information to help you understand biology.
g.	No food or drinks in the classroom or lab.
h.	STATEMENT OF ACADEMIC HONESTY:  CHEATING AND PLAGIARISM WILL RESULT 
IN A ZERO, THIS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED DURING ANY WORK OR ASSIGNMENT. You must 
be responsible and complete your own work.
i.	If absent it is the student's responsibility to make-up missed work.  
Missed work needs to be made up as soon as possible. SEE ME after you have 
been absent to set up a schedule for make-up work.
j.	Enter the room quietly, be seated, have needed supplies-- BE prepared 
to work. I WILL!


III.	Grading is based on points. 
a.	Grades 
Tests = 100 points
Homework,lab and quiz values will vary depending on level of difficulty and 
content.
b.	Homework – homework will be assigned and checked for correctness. All 
work is due on the due date at the beginning of the hour 
c.	Tests – Usually there will be one test per chapter. Tests will be 
multiple choice, fill in the blank, data analysis, short answer and essay.
d.	Lab – lab work will usually be done with a lab partner followed by an 
analysis completed individually.
e.	Late work will not be accepted unless there are very unusual 
circumstances approved by me.
f.	Do not put away work early.  No other class work or magazines will be 
read in this room.  We only have 75 minutes and that time is for biology. 
Stay seated and on task UNTIL the bell rings.

h.	No extra credit will be given.
