Dear Parents and Students
Welcome to DPES if you are new to our school. Welcome back if you are returning to DPES. I hope that everything has gone well for you and your student this summer. Please feel free to contact the Health Office if you have any questions or concerns. As with every school year, once we get into September, we start to see our illnesses among the students increase. Please allow me to make a few points regarding the health of your child at our school. If your child has the following: 1)a fever of 100 degrees or higher, 2)nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea or has been sent home with any of these; PLEASE KEEP YOUR CHILD AT HOME UNTIL THEY HAVE NOT HAD ANY SYMPTOMS FOR 24 HOURS. Please abide by this as outlined in our student handbook. If your child checks out of school with one of the above ilnesses and returns before the 24 hours are up, you may receive a phone call to come and pick them up from school. Please help us keep our students healthy and ready to learn. Since I have beeen speaking about illnesses-let me remind you that any medication given at school MUST be accompanied by the medication authorization signed by a parent and the physician. Thank you for your assistance in following this policy.
Head lice is something that every school has dealt with. At this time, students will not be allowed to return to school until they are lice free. The student will also need to be brought to the school by an adult when the child returns for clearance and reentry into school. Verification of proper treatment must be provided to show proof of use of pediculicide (lice shampoo) before rentry into school. Please do not put your child on a school bus when they have been sent home with head lice.
If you received a letter at the end of school regarding your child's immunization (shot) record, that will need to be cleared up before your child will be allowed to enter school. Please call me if you have questions.
One of our goals is to work to keep the students of DPES healthy and at their best learning potential. Thank you for your help. Please call me at the Health Office if you have needs or concerns.
Again, welcome to another great year at DPES!
Sincerely,
Brenda C. Hall, RN BSN
