Greetings parents and students! My name is Courtney Henderson. I come from a
family full of educators. I was a substitute teacher for three years
following high school graduation in 2005. After graduation, I attended
Wallace State for a year, where I completed an Associates in Science degree.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Athens State University in May of 2008,
where I served as Junior Class President, Founder's Queen, and Ms. Athens
State. I was also a member of the Student Government Association and Kappa
Delta Pi, an international honor society in education. I am presently working
on my Masters in Elementary Education at the University of West Alabama. Last
year, I taught 5th grade here at East Elementary. I could have not asked for
a more wonderful first year as a full-time educator. I enjoy playing
classical piano, reading, and writing as often as possible. I am thrilled to
be teaching at East Elementary and I look forward to another school year full
of many successes!
All students will be challenged to succeed academically. Academics will be
our main focus; however I also recognize the importance of teaching manners
and respect that will benefit my students throughout their education and
future careers. By earning each other's respect, we will form a strong
classroom community from which all will benefit!
