Why can't I just walk in and see my child for a minute?
While you and your child know your reason for an unannounced visit, the
other adults and children do not; we may not know you personally. We do
not, therefore, allow strangers in the building. This is a proactive
safety precaution for all here at E.E.S. In addition, we protect
instructional time at East, and any interruption creates student
digressions. We appreciate your assistance with our educational process.
May I visit East Elementary to have lunch with my child?
YES! You are always invited to have lunch with us at East Elementary, but we
do require that you order your lunch in the morning, either through your
child's teacher or by calling the cafeteria. Also, with any visit, please
sign in at the Main Office before going to the cafeteria.
Who do I talk to when I have a concern about my child?
While I am willing to assist, any concern about a child's progress or
behavior must be discussed with the teacher. While email is an easy way to
communicate about daily events, if you have a concern or a pressing issue,
please call and set up a conference. The teacher has first hand knowledge
about what is occuring and they are more than happy to meet to discuss your
concerns.
How may I help out at East Elementary School?
The PTO is active and involved at EES. Joining the PTO will open the door for
a number of volunteer opportunities; however, you don't need to wait to be
asked. Volunteer with your child's teacher to read, assist with Math
interventions, make copies, offer lunch coverage, help with classroom
activities, etc. The possibilities are endless, and so are the benefits.
What is the ONE VOICE philosophy?
ONE VOICE means that the message received by our children must be the same
when coming from teachers, parents, and administration. Agree or disagree
with something that happens at East, the message to our children must be one
of school support. We, as adults, should always discuss concerns
privately. Our children will produce what is expected of them, and we need
your support to aid in that achievement.
If you find that you have any concern with East procedures/policies,
teachers, or administration please voice your concerns with school
personnel. Public conversations are often, unfortunately, used to spread
false rumors and misinformation. Remember, negative perceptions of East are
not flattering to you or your child; we are all in this together. How do
you wish for the public to view your child's school?
Some call this an "old-fashioned" way of thinking. I call it mutual respect
for one another for the sake of our children.
