This new 2009-2010 school year will be my 29th year of teaching at East
Elementary! I've taught 1st, 3rd, and now 4th grades. I truly love our
school and hope that you will, too!
I have been married for 31 years to Cameron Harbison. Our son, Jason,
graduated from Auburn University and continues to live and work there. Our
daughter, Bethany is graduating from Jacksonville State and plans to be
married on October 24.
I consider it to be a continuing honor to teach at East Elementary. I will
do my best to provide your child with the best 4th grade education that I
possibly can.
Please remember that we are partners and that we are all on the same side--
the side of your child. Let's make excellent communication our goal this
year.

My mission is that my students will leave my class as confident readers and
writers. They also need to be strong in their understanding of basic
math concepts. It is impossible to memorize everything in our our
information-heavy society, so I want students to be able to LOCATE
information they need in the areas of Science and Social Studies.
Most of all, it is my goal to form a "family" community within our class. I
believe that when students are comfortable, learning comes easier.
