I was born and raised in Cullman. I went through Cullman City School, so I
know that wonderful teachers work with our children. I graduated from
Cullman High School and attended Southern Benedictine College for one year
until it closed. I continued my undergraduate studies at the University of
Montevallo where is recieved my degree in Physical Education in the fall of
1982. Unable to find a teaching job, I was hired by our City Parks and
Recreation Department as the receptionist and gymnastics coach. After
working at the Civic Center for a couple of years, I was hired to teach 8th
grade at Sacred Heart School while continuing to coach gymnastics. After two
years at SHS, I was hired to teach 6th grade at Cullman Middle School. I
remained there until 6th grade was moved back to the elementary schools and
have been here at East ever since then.
My wonderful husband, Jerry, and I have 2 boys. Chase is a freshman at
Calhoun Community College and Keegan is a freshman CHS. They
keep us quite busy with their activities. Chase plays baseball for Calhoun
while Keegan plays travel baseball with Alabama Seminoles out of Montgomery
and the CHS Bearcats. On the weekend, I can usually be found in a
gymnasium judging gymnastics or watching the boys play baseball. In my spare
time, I enjoying reading and spending time with our family.
My mission for the students is very simple - that they develop into
caring, productive citizens of the community. On that journey, I want them
to become independent life-long learners. In addition, it is my desire for
them to become passionate about reading and eventually pass that passion onto
their own children.
