Hello, I am Susan NeSmith and this will be the start of my 21st year of
teaching. I have previously taught kindergarten and first grade. This will
be my seventh year at East Elementary. I received my Bachelors degree from
The University of Alabama in Birmingham and my Masters degree from The
University of Alabama. I enjoy teaching second graders and watching their
faces as they discover new things about the curriculum and how to implement
these new skills into into their daily lives. I am married to Charlie NeSmith
and we have two children. Chelsea, who is a senior at Cullman High School and
Chas, who will be entering first grade at Cullman Primary School. We tend to
lead interesting lives with our children being 11 years apart. On one hand we
are preparing and searching for the right college and on the other hand we
are learning to read and play soccer. There is always something new going on.
We attend First Baptist church and will soon begin teaching 11th and 12th
grade Sunday school. I am very excited about this opportunity we have been
given to interact with our youth. I enjoy hanging out and spending time with
my kids,working in my yard, attending Auburn footabll games, and reading. I
am looking forward to this new school year. I hope you that you find yourself
loving East Elementary as much as I do.
It is my mission for the students in my classroom to leave second
grade "loving to learn." I want my classroom to be a fun, safe and
challenging environment in which to learn. I believe every child has a gift
and it is my job to help find that gift. These children will one day be our
future and I hope to instill in each one of them some sense of character
that will help them be productive in tomorrow's society.
