 AnnouncementsDear Parents, (This is a little early...but I know a lot of yo like for your child to begin homework promptly...this begins 10/15/09.)
This is the new spelling and reading study guide info. for lesson 9. Please be sure that your child reads, studies spelling and robust vocabulary words everynight.
Study Tips for "Click Clack Moo". The Robust Vocabulary Words are tested in context. Please pay special attention to them during the week. Focus on the definitions the first couple of nights...then focus on real life applications of the words in context the rest of the week. We want them to think.
Always think...What is an example? What is not an example? What is the opposite?
Example: brisk
Which item is an example of something that would not be brisk?
A. A chilly and fast blowing wind. B. A quick walk.
C. A cold shower. D. Soaking in a warm tub of water.
**A Genre' question is always asked on each weekly test. Be sure to look at the type of Genre' each week. (Always located in the blue box on the 1st page of the reading story.)Homework Schedule: (This week includes a study sheet for Robust Vocab.)
10/15 Thurs. night Write the spelling words 3 X each. (Genre'' Fiction)

Study Robust Vocabulary words (real life focus)
10/16 Fri., Sat., Choose 8 spell. words write 4 asking & 4 telling sentence
or Sun. *Never begin a sentence with: And, So, But, or I

10/19 Mon. night Put the spelling words in a,b,c order
Read "Click Clack Moo"

10/20 Tues. night Read "Click Clack Moo" (Honor Assembly 2:00 lunchroom)
Write a summary paragraph of "Click Clack Moo"
Indent, use complete sentences, capital letters, and
punctuation marks as needed.

** A practice spelling test was given in class today...if time permits. Your child will advise you. :)
*If a student makes 100/A...no spelling test tomorrow.
*If a student misses any word(s)...write only the word(s) missed,
3 times each.

No reading story or spelling words homework tonight...just read for enjoynment...your choice! :)
10/23 Fri. **We will not have a reading story today due to "Parenting Day activities". The new study guide starts Monday.
We will review in the morning and 2nd grade activities are from 11:30-1:00.
