If you preregister the cost is greatly reduced. Only $99 for a two day
conference! That is if you register early!
What about lunch? How much is it?
Registration fees include a boxed lunch for both days.
May I register for one day only?
You can attend one day, but you pay for two. The registration fee is set.
However the amount does increase as the Institute nears.
Decide if you want to pay $99. or $125 or 135.
What are other lunch possibilites?
There are a number of restaurants nearby. The Purple Onion and The Pita
Stop, are south of the UAB's Ed Dept. Giuseppes is west three blocks A
number of fast food restaurants are near --within six blocks northeast of the
UAB ED Dept., closer to UAB's Medical Center. The problem is getting back to
the sessions on time. Some people bring lunches from home, but the boxed
lunches are great. There are a bank of vending machines in the Education
Building too.
Last year I got a real deal for -Teaching K-8! Is that available again?
Yes, attenders at this year's institute will be offered a year's subscription
for $5.00. That's a 75% savings. AND did you know that in 2009, everyone who
attends gets a book by The 2 Sisters--that's a $23.00 value! Tell your friends.
Would you recommend local motels or hotels?
For a good deal, when you make a reservation, ask for the rate for the UAB
MidSouth Institute. Check 'lodging' on the left side bar.
Can I get graduate credit for attending MidSouth?
Yes, you can even get graduate credit! Email Maryann Manning requesting more
information. But basically you must be a UAB student AND willing to meet for
two other Saturdays. The reading list for the course will be comprised of
books and/or articles written by the Institute leaders.
I heard you get a book!
This year, 2009, the answer is YES! You'll get the newest book by The 2
Sisters or one by Barry Lane. What a deal.
