November 9-13
READING
We will learn the letter Ii and the sound /i/. Have your child practice telling you words that begin with the /i/ sound. We will be working on blending and reading words with /i/ in the middle. Here are some words you can have your child practice reading at home: Tim, sip, sit, zip, tip, pit, ship. We will learn two new sight words, he, for. These words will be added to your child’s ring cards. Have your child practice reading, spelling, and writing these words. Please have your child practice reading simple sentences. A page is coming home in your child’s folder with sentences they can practice reading each night.
MATH
We will be discussing plane shapes. We will review circle, square, triangle, and, rectangle. We will learn hexagon, rhombus, and trapezoid. We will also continue to review numbers 0-20, counting backwards from 10, and counting forwards from 1-30.
SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES
We will continue our AMSTI Unit on Balls and Ramps. This week we will explore different kinds of balls. We will discuss the traditions of Thanksgiving, Pilgrims, and Indians.
HOMEWORK
Homework is in your child’s pencil pouch. Also, the kids are doing a great job with reading the books that I have been sending home. Please make sure they stay in the pencil pouch. I change out the books on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Have your child read their book once each night, even if they read it the night before. Sentences for your child to read each night are also attached to the homework.
