How do I become a member of the National Honor Society?

All students are evaluated for the National Honor Society based on
scholarship, (GPA of 3.6 or higher), citizenship, leadership, and service.
The evaluations are held each year during the spring semester. Students who
are eligible for membership will be notified in writing prior to new
selections.

How does someone get into the gifted program?

All students go through a screening in the 2nd grade to identify gifted
students. In addition to the screening, students may be referred by a parent
or by a teacher for screening. Gifted students are identified using a
multiple criteria matrix. This matrix can be downloaded from the Alabama
State Department of Education website under Sections: Special Education:
Gifted. The website is: http://www.alsde.edu.

What's the National Junior Honor Society?

The National Junior Honor Society is an honor society that recognizes
scholastic achievement, as well as leadership, citizenship, and service, for
students in grades 7 - 9. Once selected as a member of this organization,
students must maintain the level of excellence they had initially to become a
part of the honor society. Membership in the National Junior Honor Society
does not automatically guarantee membership in the National Honor Society,
which is for students in grades 10 - 12 (and who meet the standards of
scholarship, leadership, citizenship, and service).
