Speech Class

ATTENTION PARENTS/GUARDIANS of my 3rd Block Speech Class: Progress reports for this class will be handed out tomorrow (February 5, 2009). Thank you for your patience in this matter!

Speech 2 Due Date:  Due February 10th

 

Assignment: Describe a person you admire, someone you know personally who has influenced you in some significant way.

 

Content: Your speech must contain a detailed discussion of these elements:

 

(1) Description: tell what this person looks like, what his/her personality is like.

(2) Illustration: tell a story about this person that illustrates your dominant impression of him/her.

(3) Influence: tell what this person has taught you or how he/she has influenced you.

 

Explain in detail and with examples.

 

Introduction & Conclusion: your speech must have a clear beginning and ending.

 

Introduction:  Identify your topic (the person) by name and relationship to you; give dominant impression of this person, particularly focusing on what this person means to you…

 

Conclusion: finish with a memorable detail or idea about this person

 

 

 

 

Length: a minimum of 2 minutes. Less than two minutes will be considered incomplete, and you will be expected to continue.

 

Preparation: Prepare index cards to use during your speech. These cards should contain notes--words and phrases to remind you of ideas to include in your speech. Do not write out the speech word-for-word on these cards.

 

Audiovisual Aids: No audiovisual aids for this speech.

 

Grading: Your speech will be evaluated in these areas--
