Hi,
Welcome to 10th Grade English. I am an Army veteran, who served twelve
years. This is my fourth year of teaching, and I can truly say I enjoy
teaching tomorrow's leaders. I received my Master of Arts in Teaching degree
from the University of West Alabama and my Bachelor of Science degree from
Austin Peay State University. I was born and raised in Chicago, Il, but
after spending the last sixteen years in the South, I must admit I prefer the
calm relaxing peace of the South to the fast-paced hustle and bustle of the
North. I am happily married with three children. My Daughter is a junior at
the University of West Alabama, majoring in elementary education; my oldest
son recently joined the Army, and my youngest son is in the 7th grade. I
look forward to working with both the students and parents this semester.
My mission for this class is to empower each individual to reach his or her
potential and to achieve all that life has to offer. In order to accomplish
this goal, students will be required to use critical thinking skills to go
beyond simply recalling information to applying those skills in analyzing
literature and writing intelligently. I also hope to awaken the joy of
reading in each student. Reading is the key to success in all
academic areas.
