5. Finish Pursuit of Happyness; use the Movie Note Taking format I handed out last week
6. Review Parts of Speech; watch video

1. Prepositional phrases sheet by door; be prepared to verbally go over the answers. Also, pick up Statement of Understanding sheet by the door and copy the entire statement in MLA format (double space with 1” margins); sign your name at the bottom.
2. Hand in your statements of purpose (preliminary thesis statement) into the tray; remind me to hand back in-class essays; check research folders (5x8 cards, House Health Bill and article printouts, sign off sheet on top)
3. Voc. 3 Test – know simile, metaphor, onomatopoeia, alliteration, oxymoron, personification, compound subject, compound predicate, and subordinating conjunctions.
4. Quiz on MLA format, ss#, class number for those who did not already receive 100%; label quiz MLA Format Quiz; the ss# will be blacked out as soon as I grade them, but if you do not feel comfortable with putting your ss# down you may see me before or after school and recite your number to me. You will not put your name on the test, only your class #.
5. Go over study guide and quotations on The Pact.

7. Homework: Study the Literary Term definitions for test on Wednesday. Continue work on research paper, and read The Pact. Quiz grade: For The Pact Ch. 3-4, convert the questions into multiple choice questions (4 choices). Allison to Lowmiller will do the first third, McCollum to Shelby will do the second third, and Smith to Wilson will do the last third. If the number of questions cannot be evenly divided, overlap your questions. Write neatly and hand into the tray tomorrow. These will be the new format for the quizzes. For the quotations, write who said it, to whom, context, and meaning; we will discuss these in class.

2. DOL 4 Test (100 T)/ Write in-class essay
3. Check Working Vocabulary every Thursday; each Thursday, you will hand in your entire working vocabulary in the tray. Each week, you will add 10 new words with the sentence you found the word in and the definition of the word. I will write check 1, 2, 3, and 4 with the date and my initials at the top of the assignment. For each 4 checks, you will receive a writing grade (100W).
4. Homework: Quiz grade: For The Pact Ch. 10-14, convert the questions into multiple choice questions (4 choices). Study for the vocabulary test. Grammar Wkbk – Gerunds and Gerund Phrases p. 93, 1-10. Write the sentences and follow the directions.

Remember that 5 points will be marked off if you do not head your paper in MLA format, 5 points off if you do not put your class number after your name, 5 points off if you do not correctly title your assignments, and 5 points off on tests if you do not put the ID letter.
