Senor Harris is orginally from Prattville, and graduated from Samford
University. He then served as a missionary journeyman in Bangladesh for two
years. Upon returning to the USA he earned a masters degree in health care
administration from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. After
assignments in Tupelo, Mississippi, and Fort Worth, Texas, he served as
administrator of the Centro Medico Bautista in Asuncion, Paraguay for 12
years until returning to Autauga Country in 2000 where he began teaching
Spanish at PHS in 2001.
My mission for Spanish students is to prepare them for college and future
careers in which the knowledge of a second language will give them an
advantage. With the certainty of increased Hispanic presence in the United
Staets and the globalization of our world, the ability to understand and
converse in Spanish will help to assure their success. Also, learning
another language will help their critical thinking skills, analytical
abilities, and understanding of English. Study of the Latin world
will broaden their geographical knowledge, appreciation of different
cultures, and give them opportunities to deal directly with Spanish in real
life situations.
