The concepts and skills we teach at PKS are derived from the Alabama
Course of Study for Physical Education. Below is a schedule of the skills
that will be tested and what grading period this will occur.
1st Six Weeks
1. Learn and follow the Physical Education rules
2. Interacts well with others
2nd Six Weeks
1. Identify body parts
(head,shoulders,knees,toes,mouth,eyes,ears,nose,arms,hands,fingers,legs,feet,
ankle,stomach,waist,and back)
2. Balances on floor and/or with objects
3rd Six Weeks
1. Throwing (overhand,underhand,and with various objects)
4th Six Weeks
1. Demonstrates locomotor skills (walk,run,hop,jump,gallop,leap,and
skip)
5th Six Weeks
1. Catching various sized objects
6th Six Weeks
1. Strikes objects with body or long/short handled instruments
2. Perform a forward roll and a log roll
Other concepts taught but not tested are listed below:
1. Demonstrates an initial level of efficiency with all non-locomotor
skills (bending,twisting,turning, and leaning)
2. Establishes a beginning movement vocabulary
(slow,fast,backwards,sideways,forward,diagonally,low,and tip-toes)
3. Participates in various rhythmic activities (dance,rhythmic
patterns,lummi sticks,educational songs)
