Dear Parent(s),
I am thrilled to be able to inform you of a new addition to our
reading series at PKS! We are now using Pearson Success Net to reinforce
daily reading instruction and provide enrichment to our students. Pearson
Success Net is the web-based program that goes along with our Scott Foresman
reading series. It allows parents to access weekly reading selections from
home via the Internet. On Monday of each week I will send four readers to
your child’s account. They will include the weekly kindergarten student
reader, listen to me reader, independent leveled reader, and decodable
reader. Your child’s teacher will be using these same books during small
group reading instruction that week. If you have Internet access at home, I
encourage you to practice these stories with your child. In addition to the
stories, there is also an icon on your child’s homepage called “take it to
the net.” This portion of the program has story retelling exercises that go
along with some of the weekly selections. From time to time, your child’s
teacher may also send additional readers to your child’s account to help with
specific skills they are working on in the classroom. The stories will stay
on your child’s homepage for two weeks. Then they will automatically fall
off as new readers are added. Feel free to go back and reread stories from
the prior week. Since these stories will be familiar to your child, he/she
can practice reading fluently.
Your child’s teacher will be sending you his/her username and
password very soon. You can access the program by going to
www.pearsonsuccessnet.com. Follow the log-in instructions and you should see
your child’s homepage!
Although this program serves as an excellent supplemental activity for our
students, it is not required. It is designed to reinforce the teaching that
occurs daily in your child’s classroom. If you do not have Internet access
at home, please do not stress!
I hope you all enjoy using Pearson Success Net. I think it will be a
wonderful addition to our reading program. If you have questions, please
feel free to contact me at 361-3890 ext. 16010.
Sincerely,
Deanise Peacock
