BRING LIBRARY BOOKS BACK TO SCHOOL EVERY FRIDAY SO THAT YOUR CHILD CAN GET A
NEW BOOK TO READ AT HOME.
We have NOW learned 18 NEW WORDS: 1)I ,2) am ,3) the ,
4)little, 5) to 6) a 7) have 8) is 9) we 10) my 11) like 12)
for, 13) he 14) with 15) she 16) me 17) look 18) see. We call these
words our HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS. Please encourage your child to find these
words in books as you read together at home.
In Language Arts:
During the week of January 6-9, we are reading a story about two animals who
become friends. We will also discuss how friendships change sometimes. Ask
your child about the story and please review the amazing words that we are
learning this week.
So far, we have studied the letters: Mm, Tt, Pp, Ss, Aa, Cc, Ii, Bb, Nn, Rr,
Kk and Dd. The week of January 6-9, we will be learning about the Letter Ff
and the /f/ sound. Please encourage your child to sound out the words in the
books we send home every week.
In Math:
We are continuously reviewing how to recognize, extend, and create
patterns. We are also learning about matching numerals to sets of
objects. We are also learning about numbers 0-20 forwards and backwards,
recognizing the numbers 0 to 20, and sorting objects by color, size or shape.
In Social Sciences:
We are learning about animals that live in the polar regions in the world. We
are also studying about the weather and how it changes.
