Dear Parents,
We have had a great week! We have learned the letters Aa, Bb, Cc, Dd, Ee
and the words I, am. The children have discussed and created rules for the
classroom.
This week we will begin a review of colors and shapes. The shapes for
this week are rectangle and triangle. The children will enjoy wearing the
color of the day (this is optional):
Tues. (19th): yellow Wed.: blue Thurs.: purple Fri.: red
Next week:
Mon. (25th): orange Tues.: black Wed.: brown Thurs.: green
Fri.(29th): wear your favorite color
The Family Times that comes home on Mondays gives information about our
Language Arts/Reading work for the week.
The book we are reading as a whole group is listed on page 1.
Activities to do with your child are on page 2 of the booklet. That is your
homework! Do one a day. This gives your child practice with the skills we
are learning in the classroom.
The 'Words to talk about' are to develop vocabulary - we call them Amazing
Words. 'Words to read' and 'Letters to name' are the skills your child
needs to begin to read. Work on these every day.
On Wednesday we will go to the library for Shared Reading. I will give you
more information when I know what is happening! Friday, the music teacher
comes to our room. Next week, we will go to the libray on Friday. I will
mark the 'How Was Your Day?' reports with what is happening for the
week.
