Mrs. Temple’s January News
What’s Happening?
Happy New Year! I hope you had a safe and enjoyable holiday season. We
have accomplished so much and are ready to accomplish even more in the new
year. During the month of January, we will continue with the letters Ff,
Oo, Hh, Ll and Gg and work hard on quick letter naming of the whole
alphabet. We will continue to focus on phonemic awareness; beginning,
middle, and ending sounds of words, blending sounds to read and write words,
and on writing sentences. In math, we will be working on numeral
recognition 0 – 20, making sets of objects to represent numbers up to 30,
and on number patterns. We will learn about the number 100 as we approach
the 100th day of school. Social Sciences will include topics such as the
new year, the winter season, animals in winter, North and South poles, and
Martin Luther King.
Up-Coming Events
January 9th Report cards go home! (Please sign and return with
envelope. The copy of the checklist is yours to keep.)
January 19th No School! (MLK Day)
January 21st 100th Day of School!!
Helpful Home Hints
Keep reading and have your child sound out and read words to you. Also,
have your child write words as he/she sounds them out.
Needed Items
Thank you for your continued help with cut-outs and sending needed items.
Our Christmas program and party were successful because of our great moms
and dads!! (Grandparents, too!) Also, thank you so much for the wonderful
gifts!
We do have a continued need for wipes and paper towels. (I guess we are
pretty messy!) Thanks Again!!
