Mr. Rodgers has a wide series of interests and has joked that the classic
slam against William Jennings Bryan could also be made against him. It was
said of Bryan that he had "a mind like a soup bowl: broad but shallow." He
is a graduate of Columbus State University and was admitted to the Phi Alpha
Theta National Honor Society for History students. He is also a graduate of
Chicago's prestigious Player's Workshop, having studied with the legendary
Josephine R. Forsberg. Ms. Forsberg taught Mike Myers, George Wendt, Robert
Townsend, Shelley Long and Bill Murray to name a few. Mr. Rodgers is
arguably her least distinguished student. He is an avid reader and loves
music, classical in particular. Mr.Rodgers also is a movie buff and loves
Turner Classic Movies. When students ask him about remakes of films
("Manchurian Candidate," "King Kong," "War of the Worlds," etc.) his most
common response is either "I saw it but I prefer the original" or "I haven't
seen it but I saw the original."
"All who have meditated on the art of governing mankind have been convinced
that the fate of empires depends on the education of youth." - Aristotle
"Only the educated are free." - Epictetus
"Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Understanding is not
enough; we must do. Knowing and understanding in action make
for honor. And honor is the heart of wisdom." - Johann von Goethe
"A great man is hard on himself. A small man is hard on others." - Confucius
"Failure lies not in falling down, but in not getting up." - Traditional
Chinese Proverb
"One good teacher in a lifetime may sometimes change a delinquent into a
solid citizen." - Philip Wylie
"Those unmindful when they hear, for all they make of their intelligence,
may
be regarded as the walking dead." - Heraclitus
