Students are expected to follow all school rules and regulations
while in this class.
Class Rules:
1. Always give your best effort on all class activities and
assignments. They are opportunities to learn, achieve, and grow. Take
advantage of them.
2. All students have a right to their opinions. How you
support your opinions is a key to doing well in class. Respect for the
opinions of others is a requirement.
3. Your personal honor and integrity are a very precious and
important part of who you are as a person. Therefore, I expect you will all
do your own work at all times.
4. Keep in mind that I want all of you to do well. I want
you to reach your goals and your full potential as a student and as a person.
Materials Needed:
1. Tablet computer
2. One pair of headphones, ear bud, etc.
3. All other materials for class are available through online
access which will be set up the first day of class.
Grading policy: The majority of your grade will come from your
performance on chapter tests. There will be opportunities to earn daily
grades through "ice breakers," essays, debates, class preparation, and
special assignments. Added together, these grades will count as one test per
nine weeks. This grade will not be reflected in your average until the end of
the grading period. No individual opportunities for extra credit are offered.
Semester exams count one-fourth of the semester average.
Extra Help: I encourage you to come get individual help or seek my
undivided attention on any concerns you might have. An academic help session
has been established for that purpose. I will be in the high school Tuesday
and Wednesday from 3:00-3:40 without appointments. I can also meet with you
other days after school, before school, during break, or during lunch, but we
need to schedule appointments so I will be available in my classroom.
Absences: Please see me as soon as you return from an absence so you
can make up your work. If you have a scheduled appointment, please see me
at least two days before the appointment, so I can let you know what you
will miss. If you know you have an appointment on a scheduled test day, it
is imperative that you notify me two days ahead so we can arrange when you
will take the test. Make-up tests will be a new version of the original
test. Use your planners and stay organized.
Parents: If you are interested in receiving class e-mails regarding
test dates and other important information, please clearly write the e-mail
address to which you would like messages sent.
