I graduated from Bluefield College, Bluefield, VA with a B.A. in Music. My
major instrument was voice with a minor in piano. While in college, I
accompanied our Opera productions and Concert Choir, sang in Show Choir, and
traveled with a Comtemporary Christian Music group. Since then, I have
served in churches as Minister of Music/Worship Leader which included
directing Adult Choirs, Youth Choirs, and Children's Choirs. My husband,
Allen Mahan, is the pastor of Plant City Baptist Church where I also serve
as Minister of Music. My children are Caleb and Camden. Caleb is in the
5th grade and Camden is in the 3rd grade here at Springwood. My family is
originally from Virginia and have been in Alabama now for four years.
This is my 4th year at Springwood and my second year in Music.
Not because we expect you to major in music.
Not because we expect you to play or sing all your life.
Not so you can relax.
Not so you can have fun.
But – so you will be human,
So you will recognize beauty,
So you will be sensitive,
So you will be closer to an infinite beyond this world,
So you will have something to cling to,
So you will have more compassion, more gentleness, more goodness, in short –
more life.
Of what value will it be to make a prosperous living unless you know how to
live?
