Opportunities for All Students

The Society of American Military Engineers Summer Camps –

Camps are offered to high school students interested in engineering or a related field.  You must be 15 years old prior to the first day of the camp to apply.  These camps are sponsored by the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Navy Seabees, the Society of American Military Engineers, and the U.S. Marine Corps.

The Arkansas Post Society of American Military Engineers will sponsor ONE student for each camp, paying all costs of the camp, transportation, and airfare.  Information, eligibility, and applications for these camps is available at http://www.samecamps.org.

Draft applications must be received by March 16, 2012.

Once applications are received, nominees will be selected, then Arkansas Post will help them to complete and submit the full application.

USAFE Camp – July 6-12, 2012                     Colorado Springs, Co

Seabees Camp – July 22-28, 2012                Port Heuneme, CA

A third camp, Vicksburg Post Camp, will be held June 10-16, 2012, in Vicksburg, MS.  Applications for this camp should be mailed directly to the Vicksburg Post by March 23, 2012.  Forty (40) students will be selected to attend.  There is no cost to the students who attend but you must arrange transportation to and from Vicksburg.

You can find information on this camp at http://www.samevicksburg.org/camp/index.htm.   This is an outstanding camp, one that helps students explore the field of engineering with hands-on, outdoor activities.  It is a lot of fun—time well spent.
