Conflict Analysis-Group Assignment Due October 29th
1. Cut out, copy, or print five newspaper, magazine, or Internet articles that deal with five different conflicts.
2. Discuss the 3 key elements (Conflict Styles, Head Games, & Conflict Goals) that we have discussed in class using unit vocabulary to describe and analyze the conflicts. Go in-depth with your analysis.
3. Suggest a possible solution for each conflict that would promote cooperation instead of manipulation and control. Be specific – no “Have a Coke and a smile” answers.
4. Create a rubric for judging how well your group functioned as a team. Can be similar to a slam sheet with point values for each criterion. Show me what you think most important by the weight you choose to give it.)
5. Evaluate each member of your group (including yourself) using the rubric your group created. Include a comment explaining your rationale for the rating you gave.
It should take about one page to do the above for each conflict. Therefore, your group assignment should be at least five pages total, typed.
6. Print out or cut out the five articles, highlight the relevant information that you discuss in each write-up, and attach the articles to your write-ups.
All assignments must be typed to earn full credit, with 1-inch margins on the top and bottom, and 1.25-inch margins on the left and right sides, 12 pt. font in Times New Roman style. (This is generally the default in Microsoft Word.) Double spacing is the standard.
Groups that choose to go beyond the minimum requirements outlined here may be awarded extra credit. Creativity is worth more than tradition.
