Frequently Asked Questions

PTA Frequently Asked Questions.

About PTA
The PTA is an accredited branch of the Ar. PTA, which is part of the national PTA- one of the
major groups nationally advocating for children. Farmington PTA follows state and national
guidelines in its policies and procedures, but adjusts its programs to meet local needs. The
PTA is open to all parents and teachers; enrollment is possible at any time and is for a
calender year.

How is the PTA Organized?
The PTA is headed by an executive committee (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary)
The PTA also is comprised of various standing committees, which organize and carry out the
PTA's events and programs. Each committee may recruit volunteers for particular programs and
events from the general PTA membership ( the PTA's Volunteers Coordinator assists with locating
volunteers from the Farmington community). Any PTA member who wishes to become directly
involved in PTA work can feel free to conduct the committee chairperson for any committee, or
the PTA's Volunteer Coordinator.

When does the PTA meet?
The PTA Board ( Executive Committee plus committee chairs and grade level teacher liaisons has
monthly Buisness Meetings. These meetings are public and any PTA member who would like to be
active in the PTA is welcome to attend, but are working ( rather that informational) meetings.
The PTA also holds at least 3 general informational meetings consist of a short program of PTA
buisness (updates on PTA work, voting on important aspects of PTA buisness, ect)

Is fundraising the main goal of the PTA?
PTA fundraising during the year is conducted solely to support the activities and programs
outlined in our Plan of Work and is out calender of events. We have an ambitious schedule of
programs and projects, and work hard to be able to accomplish all that we propose. Nearly all
the funds we raise truly do go right back into the school, the classrooms, and your chil's
educational experience at Williams and Ledbetter.

3. Give your time: volunteer for a particular school or PTA project that interest you, even if
you don't join a PTA committee officially.
