JOSEPH ELEFANTE, JR. MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP

The Joseph Elefante Jr. Memorial Endowment is a 21st Century Endowment set
up through the Optimist International Foundation and has full nonprofit 501.3
status.  The endowment will help continue Joe's work of helping to bring out
the best in kids.of the community, through scholarships.
Any student in the state of Arizona is eligible to apply.  We are looking
for the kids for which the funds will make the most difference.  This could
include a student who wants to go to a vocational school, but do not have
the money for tools, or students that are not in the top of their class but
are still in school despite many obstacles.
These scholarships are aimed at kids to really make a difference in their
lives. Optimists from all over the state of Arizona will evaluate all the
applications.  Panel members will read all applications and make their own
top picks.  Then the whole panel will get together and compare, discuss and
decide.  Awards will be based on need, other assistance the student is
receiving, availability of funds, and the students own words of why they
think they should get a scholarship.
