Play: The Witches
Author: Roald Dahl (author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory & James and the Giant Peach)
Performance dates: September 12-14 at 7PM in the PAC
Tickets: $5/students and senior citizens, $6/adults, children under 5 free
Story synopsis: “My orders are that every single child in this country shall be rrrubbed out,
sqvashed, sqvished and frrrittered before I come back here again in vun year’s time! Do I make
myself clear?” The Grand High Witch (played by senior Cortnie Allen) has a fiendish plan for
getting rid of all the children in England. First, her fellow hags will take over all the sweet
shops. Next, they will sell poisoned sweets and chocolates which turn children into mice.
Then, make way for the mouse traps! This terrible plan is overheard by a young boy narrator of
the story (played by senior AJ Pitts.) Fortunately, his grandma (played by junior Mady Leigh)
knows something about witches. Unfortunately, before he has a chance to consult her, he is
turned into a mouse himself. Will the witches triumph? Are the children of England doomed?
This scary and exciting play produced by the AJHS Drama Department has all the answers.

Cortnie Allen, Roman Sanchez, Thea Woodruff, Ian Springer, Mariah Michalek, Cassie Bradshaw,
Jeffrey Cappotto, Ryan Verley, Cat Lewis, Rick Steen & Braden Biggs. Featuring a chorus of
witches and furry puppets.
