Born in Wiltshire, England, Major Parker attended Augsburg American High
School in Augsburg Germany and Butler High School(where he was a member of
the Air Force JROTC program)in Huntsville Alabama. Upon Graduation, he
enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve and attended the New Mexico Military
Institute. He enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve in 1977 and completed
Marine Corps Officer Candidates School.
Major Parker was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and entered the active
duty Marine Corps upon receipt of his B.S. degree in 1979. Over the next 20
years he completed assignments in the 2nd Marine Division, 1st Marine
Aircraft Wing, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, 3rd Force Service Support Group, and
4th Marine Division (Inspector Instructor). Major Parker was also assigned as
the Marine Corps representative to the U.S. Army Missile Command for 3 years,
assigned as a U.S. representative to the Republic of Korea Marine Corps,
served as the Marine representative in Guam (operation pacific haven)
assisting in the evacuation of Kurdish refugees from Northern Iraq, was
assigned to the Joint Military Assistance Group in Thailand during operation
cobra gold, served as the logistics officer for MWSG-37 in Saudi Arabia
during Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and was assigned to the Office of the
Secretary of Defense in Washington D.C. for three years. Major Parker retired
from the Marine Corps in 1999 following an assignment in Okinawa, Japan.
To instill in students the value of citizenship, personal responsibility,
service to the United States, and a sense of accomplishment.
