Mission and Philosophy

MISSION:
Our mission is to foster enthusiasm for life-long learning. Apache Middle School students will emerge as thinking, productive, caring, healthy individuals.

PHILOSOPHY:
The goal of Apache Middle school is to provide opportunities and support for the development of the adolescent making the transition from elementary to high school.
The community's responsibility is to provide a physical plant, materials, and support for the development of the education of the middle school student. The administration, faculty and support staff will develop and implement curriculum and activities that will help the student become an intellectually reflective person. The middle school environment shall foster the student's intellectual growth, creativity, self-awareness, discipline and maturity.
The student should develop a capacity to think clearly and critically while developing into a mentally and physically strong person. The student should learn to accept responsibility for good citizenship and ethical behavior.
The Apache Middle School student should emerge as a thinking, productive, caring, healthy person who practices good citizenship and has coping skills for the technological society in which we live.

Message from the Principal

Where has the first quarter gone? We are on track for a great year! Students are figuring out the block schedule and settling into the routine of school. Teachers are using TeacherWeb.com to ensure that students know assignments and due dates since there are some teachers they see only three times a week. It’s a great tool for you as a parent to be able to know what is going on as well. If you experience any difficulties with the TeacherWeb website, please email the teacher directly or me so we can assist with the flow of information between school and home.

Fall Break is coming up the week of October 12th. This follows the last day of the quarter, October 9, which is a half day. The teachers will be preparing report cards and those will be sent home with your student on October 23. If you wish to schedule a parent-teacher conference you can do so at any time, but Parent Conference day is Thursday, October 29. If you want to meet with your student’s teachers, there will be a letter that is sent home the week that we return from Fall Break.

As always, parents and guardians are always welcome to visit campus! Please stop by the office and sign in first for a visitors pass. Have a safe and enjoyable Fall Break!

Late Start Days - November 9th & March 1st

On October 27, 2009 the SVPS Governing Board approved the modification of the Apache Middle School calendar to include two late start days. These days will be utilized by the teachers for in-servicing and collaboration on the new block schedule.

Please be aware that NOVEMBER 9, 2009 and MARCH 1, 2010 will be late start dates. Students will not be on campus for periods 1 – 3. After arriving for the day, they will begin with 4th period, which starts at 10:37. Students will follow a regular Pink day schedule once they arrive on campus. Also note, there will be NO BREAKFAST served those two days. Lunch will be served as it is every day. School will be over at 3:15. All after school activities will run as usual, including MASH and athletics.

Busses for Apache students ONLY will run on a delayed schedule for the morning pick up. ALL ROUTES WILL PICK UP STUDENTS EXACTLY TWO (2) HOURS LATER THAN THE NORMALLY SCHEDULED TIME. For example, if your student is picked up at 7:45 am, on November 9 and March 1 they will be picked up at 9:45 am.

If you have any questions, please contact the AMS office at 515-2920.
