Class GuidelinesDaily Work
Assignments need to have the proper heading on them. They may be done in cursive or printing, sometimes you will have a choice, but not always. Writing must be legible and use correct punctuation and capitalization. Answers should always be written in complete sentences, unless specifically noted. Partial assignments will not be accepted.
Papers without a name will go into the recycle bin and receive a 0. They may be redone for half credit. PUT YOUR NAME ON EVERYTHING!!

Agendas
Agendas need to be filled out daily. Assignments should be written down the way they are on the board. Any work not finished needs to be highlighted and completed for homework. A date due should also be written for each assignment. Agendas need to be signed daily by parents. Agendas will be checked regularly in class. By checking your child's agenda daily, you can help him/her be sure that work is completed on time.
Late Work
Late work will be accepted within the week it was due. Late work will be lowered 1 letter grade. Everything should be in by the beginning of school on Friday, unless special arrangements have been made. Assignments missed due to absence are not considered late, and will be given a separate due date.
Final Draft / Projects
Final drafts of written work, projects, and reports should be turned in in final draft form. This means that there are no grammar, spelling, or punctuation errors. Black pen should be used. Typed projects need to be done in Times New Roman, not a fancy print or one that has all capital letters, use font size 12, double space, and print in black. See website reference section or individual assignments for more specific information.
Blue Folders Blue folders go home each Monday with corrected work, a weekly reflection, and any school wide notices. Please review the work with your child and return the folder and signed report by Friday. They go home every week, even if there isn't much in them, please your child for his/hers.
Webpage
The class webpage will be updated each week. It is important that students and parents get in the habit of checking it regularly. Important information about assignments and due dates will be posted there.
Classroom Environment
I expect my students to maintain a respectful work environment, so that all students can be productive and learn. At times, this will include appropriate levels of "working noise" and at other times, it will mean that the classroom remains quiets. Students having trouble working in an appropriate manner will be sent to the Refocus Area. There they will reflect on their behavior, and make plans for changing that behavior, so they can return to the class. If a student continues to make poor choices int he classroom, or causes a severs disruption, then he/she will be given a Misconduct Ticket. This ticket means that the student will have to stay after school for at least 30 minutes on that same day. Parents will be called and individual arrangements must be made for transportation.
Communication
I feel that good communication between school and home is essential. Each Monday during the first quarter, you will receive a Weekly Report in the blue folder. This includes:
This is the best way for you to keep up on your child's progress in the classroom. Student that do not return this form signed each week will miss Fun Friday. Please make the time to go over there with your child each week. Beginning in the second quarter, grades will be available on-line, so the weekly report will not continue, however, the folder will continue to go home each week with graded work.
The best way to reach me during the day is through email. I check it daily and respond to all issues. You can also write me a note or leave a message on voice mail, 480-812-6060. Due to meetings and other factors, it may take ma a day or two to get back to you, but I will be sure to respond. If you would like to meet in person, I am happy to do so, but I ask that you please do not plan to drop by for an informal meeting. I have a very full schedule and want to be able to give you my undivided attention, so please contact me and then we can set up a time that tis convenient for both of us. I appreciate your support in this are.
