This is OUR classroom. We are here to learn, be safe and have fun. We want
to be the best first graders we can be. I use the A.R.T. code as shown in
the student handbook.
A= Act Safely
Move carefully inside the classroom.
R= Respect everyone and everything
Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
Follow directions (the first time).
Use inside voices.
T= Take responsibility
Take care of materials.
Be prepared.
Clean up after yourself.
Consequences:
I use a system of color cards in the classroom. Each student starts the day
on a green card.
0 warnings= green card
1 warning= yellow card, discussion of rules, loss of 5 minutes of recess
2 warnings= orange card, discussion of rules, loss of 1 recess, note to
parents
3 warnings= red card, discussion of rules, discussion with principal, no
recesses, meeting with parents and student
Of course, some incidents are automatically a red card and will be dealt
with accordingly.
Students will earn "money" based on their cards which they may save or spend
at the end of the week to use in the classroom store.
Green card= 10 cents
Yellow card= 5 cents
Orange card= 1 cent
Red card= 0 cents
