May I bring treats for my child's birthday?

Birthday treats are always welcome to help your child celebrate their
special day. Please make sure that there are enough treats for everyone.
Right now, We have 18 students but that number is sure to change! Any food
served at school must be made in a commercial kitchen(grocery store,
restaurant etc.). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Also, individual treats are much easier to pass out. We will celebrate
summer birthdays at the end of the school year!

Do you have show and tell?

Show and tell is a valuable way for students to build self confidence
speaking in front of other people.Your child will have a designated day each
week. This year I am trying out "themes." Students will bring something for
sharing that goes with a specified theme. Please do not send anything
valuable or fragile to school. Also, please call if you are unsure if the
item is appropriate for school(i.e. pets).

What do I do when my child is Student of the Week?

Student of the Week will start in the beginning of the Second Quarter. Your
child will be Student of the Week as posted in the newsletter and on my
website. On the Thursday before their week, your child will bring home the
poster with instructions. During their special week, your
child will share family photos, an estimation treat such as small candies or
pretzels and their student of the week poster.

What about snack time?

Snacks are not allowed on the playground. Therefore, I think that we will
have to have snacks only on special occasions like birthdays or class
parties.

Does my child have to bring the homework folder back everyday?

Yes! The homework folder helps to get papers to and from school in readable
condition. It also helps to teach the children responsibility for their
materials. Homework will only be returned to students on Monday after they
have chosen their "Proud Paper" for the week.

What is the Weekly Behavior form?

Each day, the children color in a box for that day of the week based on
their "color" for the day. The purpose is to help facilitate communication
between home and school. The children are to bring the paper back to school
EACH day in their HOMEWORK folder. The students will have to sit out 5
minutes of recess if they do not return their paper the following day.
