What are Mr. Hill's classroom rules? 1. When you enter the classroom, the day�s agenda will be on the white board. 2. You may have a �Journal Question� to begin work on right after the second bell rings. Please work silently until everyone is done with the assignment. 3. Electronic devices such as pagers, cell phones, palm pilots, calculators, CD players, MP3, etc. are not allowed to be in sight or used and are to be kept in your back pack. If it causes a disruption it will be confiscated and given to an administrator. 4. No food or candy is to be eaten in the classroom. First offense - you will be asked to put it away. After first offense the food or candy will be introduced to the trash can. Gum chewing will be allowed - popping of gum will NOT be allowed - first offense, a warning. After the first offense gum will also be introduced to the trash can. If gum is found stuck on the floor, walls, under the desk or anywhere else, besides your mouth, this privilege will be revoked. No food, candy or drinks in class. 5. Stay in your assigned seat until I dismiss you at the end of class. �Don�t ever forget�you are special�. 6. Your restroom privileges will be treated as though you are in a professional setting. Choose your time wisely and do not abuse this privilege or you will lose it. 7. You are required to have in your possession a school I.D. card to obtain a hall pass. If you need a drink of water or need to sharpen a pencil, please do so before class starts. What materials are needed for American History? TEXT: AMERICAN ANTHEM; Holt, Rinehart, & Winston � 2007 SUPPLIES: 3 ring notebook, loose leaf paper, pen or pencil, colored pencils, markers or crayons and a folder (folder to remain in class) are required. ACTIVITIES: Lecture/Note taking, Class Discussion, Map Work, Group Work (2-5 people), tests, Reading Assignments, Student Presentations, Audio-Visual presentations What material are needed for Criminology? TEXT: Street Law, 6th ed., Arbetman & O�Brien SUPPLIES: 3 ring notebook, loose leaf paper, pen or pencil, colored pencils, markers or crayons and a journal are required. ACTIVITIES: Lecture/Note taking, Class Discussion, Graphic Organizers, Group Work (2-5 people), Reading Assignments, Student Presentations, Audio-Visual presentations, Mock Trial What are the grading criteria used in American History and Criminolgy? Grades are based on accumulative points for class work, homework, tests, quizzes and projects. The quarter grade will be determined by adding up all the points earned and dividing by the total points possible. The resulting grade will be given a letter grade based on the Mesa Public Schools� grading policy. The semester grade will be based on the first quarter grade, second quarter grade, and the final exam. 90 - 100% = A 80 - 89 % = B 70 - 79 % = C 60 - 69 % = D 0 - 59 % = Fail Grades are not "rounded up" What are the best times to get in contact with Mr. Hill? I often check for messages and will return calls at my earliest convience. I coach sports in the spring and will be busy in the afternoons from 1:15 PM and on. Also, I can be reached by email at whill@mpsaz.org Students are encouraged to seek extra help before school. I will make arrangements to meet with students after school as necessary. If I drive a vehicle where do I park? The front lots are designated for seniors who anticipate to leave during thier lunch period. Special permits will be passed out. All other students will park in the rear lots. Keep in mind that the east rear lot gates will be locked after morning entry. If you pemission to leave early from school ) i.e. doctors appointment) you will need to park in the west rear lot and you must have the propper pass. |
