Announcements:

ALL BOOK REPORTS ARE DUE FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30. I DO NOT ACCEPT LATE BOOK
REPORTS. STUDENTS HAVE HAD ONE MONTH TO COMPLETE THE WRITTEN AND CREATIVE
PORTION OF THIS ASSIGNMENT. STUDENTS ALSO HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO READ DURING
FIRST QUARTER ACADEMIC LAB.

Please make sure your student is studying for Friday's vocabulary test.

Make sure you are asking your student for his or her Wednesday progress
report. It will include grades for all classes. Specific questions should be
directed to individual teachers.

Below is a letter from Sue Goltz regarding gifted testing. Please let me know
if you are interested in having your child tested.

To All Parents and Teachers,

November testing for second semester gifted placement will take place at
Madison #1 on November 16th and 17th. Grades 3, 4 and 5 will test on Monday,
November 16th. Grades 6,7, and 8 will test on Tuesday, November 17th. Scores
will be available just prior to Christmas break, but will not result in
placement until second semester.

Testing will begin at 8:00 and should be completed not later than 10:30 on
each of the above dates. Students will be required to remain in the testing
environment for the entire time. If your student is only going to take
certain sections of the test, than the student should bring a book to read
during downtime.

Students may not be tested again if they have been tested during the previous
12 months. If you wish to have a student tested please contact your school
office for a permission form. These forms MUST BE RETURNED TO YOUR LOCAL
SCHOOL NOT LATER THAN November 13TH. Your cooperation and understanding
regarding this deadline are appreciated.

PARENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR DROP OFF AND PICK UP FOR THESE TESTING SESSIONS.
For those students who are unable to test at this time, or who are ineligible
because of the 12 month time constraint, there will be testing sessions at
each school in February and summer testing sessions in August 2010, just prior
to the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year.
