Dr. Laura Harnish is the gifted resource teacher at Madison Heights. She
has a master's degree in gifted education and a doctorate degree in curriculum
and instruction. She has 17 years of experience working with gifted learners
in a variety of grade levels and settings.
AEP is the program for gifted students in 3rd and 4th grade at Madison
Heights. The goals of the program include
* provide opportunities for gifted learners to interact with each other
* provide an accelerated and enriched curriculum in language arts and math
* provide opportunities for higher level thinking and problem solving
* develop study habits for being an independent learner
* develop social skills
PACE is the program for kindergarten through second grade. The goals of the
program include
* develop skills in non-verbal reasoning, logical thinking and creativity
* develop critical reading skills
* provide acceleration in math as appropriate
